BlackIce

BlackIce™ is a brand new fresh market plum from the University of Wisconsin. It is hardy to zone 3b (-30 º to 35ºF), very precocious and produces a large, round, California-type plum in severe climate conditions. BlackIce™ ripens in early August, is freestone and has excellent flovor and quality.

The tree is naturally compact with good disease resistance. It’s a perfect fit for direct sales and u-pick anywhere that an excellent quality, reliable plum is needed.

BlackIce™ was bred by Dr. Brian Smith at the University of Wisconsin, River Falls, Wisconsin. Dr. Smiths breeding program focuses on fresh market plums, pluots and other interspecific crosses that are hardy in severe upper midwestern conditions.
