Redstar® ripens 2 days after Redhaven (+2) and has 80% bright red skin with a beautiful red-on-red stripe. Redstar® has less split pits and is less clinging with larger fruit than Redhaven and averages 2 3/4” with round, high quality fruit. The flesh is clear yellow, firm but melting and does not brown when cut. The flavor is exceptional with a pleasing sugar/acid bal-ance and it packs, ships, and stores very well. The tree is bacterial spot and canker resistant. Redstar® outperforms Redhaven on every level.
The Fruit Acres Stellar Peach breeding program was begun in 1982 by Jim Friday of Coloma, MI. The program has been continued by Jim’s daughter and son-in-law, Annette and Randy Bjorge.
