Buckeye® Gala is a full red Gala with a fine, red stripe. It colors to almost 100% red, even in full shade. Buckeye® colors early and completely, allowing harvest in one pick. Buckeye® colors extremely well in very hot climates that normally cannot color a full red Gala. It has a typical Gala tree with Gala fire blight sensitivity.
Buckeye® Gala was discovered as a limb mutation by Dan Simmons of Peace Valley Orchards in Rogers, Ohio. It was released in 1995 and now has more than 4,000,000 trees in the ground worldwide.
Buckeye® is licensed to nurseries in the U.S., Canada, Chile, Mexico, the European Union, Turkey, Australia, New Zealand, and South Africa.
