Andersen™
NY 9395

A large, stem-on cocktail cherry with long, thick, green stems. Andersen™ tends to bear in singles and is well suited for stem-on shaker harvest with Ethephon treatment. Good tree hardiness and health, Bacterial Canker resistant. Very acid, not suited for retail.
Jim Bittner of Singer Farms, Appleton, NY, reports: “We have harvested Andersen™ with a trunk shaker for a number of years now. Even with a treatment of Ethephon, most cherries come off the tree with the stem. This year it was practically 100% with stems. I have never seen a cherry that shakes so easily but still has the stem attached to the cherry.”
Cornell Stone Fruit selections are a group of sweet and sour cherry, peach, plum and apricot varieties that were bred at the New York State Agricultural Experiment Station in Geneva, NY.
